Goodreads Review

Four students comparing their profiles and statistics on the app. Many enjoy talking about the app during their breaks.

Want to be your own personal advocate, gain followers, and connect with friends… download Goodreads. Created in December of 2006, the app has steadily increased in popularity with about 90 million accounts.

Throughout the Middle and Upper School, many students have been conversing about Goodreads. Goodreads is a social cataloging website that allows users to find books, reviews, and connect with other readers that enjoy reading, just as much as they do.

Goodreads helps you keep things in order both in and out of the app. For example, you are allowed to update your progress on books, and share your opinions on how you feel about them at the time. Not only is the app a good place to connect with others, you can set goals for yourself. Specifically there’s a reading challenge, which is essentially a year long goal you set for yourself, in terms of how many books you want to read per year. During the process of achieving your goals, Goodreads has a feature where you can see your progress and stats. This includes the number of books you’ve read, pages you’ve read, publication, etc. Not only is this an interesting feature, it allows you to learn more about yourself and the books you tend to gravitate towards. This does not only help you learn about yourself, it also allows your friends and followers to learn about what you enjoy too.
