There is minimal time for break, and when there is, you want to go to the best place possible. During break, it’s important to take advantage of your rest and also explore and learn new things also.
If you want to travel somewhere historic, with beautiful architecture and amazing food, go to these different places:
- Rome, Italy
Best in the spring and fall, there are incredible historical sites and amazing architecture. The Coliseum is an iconic landmark, but visiting Vatican city and taking a walking tour and learning about the history of Rome is highly recommended. I also recommend eating at Cantina e Cucina for amazing focaccia. But make sure to hold your bags tight, because pick-pockets are everywhere (I learned this the hard way).
2. Kyoto, Japan
Kyoto is the best in spring to see the gorgeous cherry blossoms and also beautiful in fall for the foliage. Visit the thousands of year old temples and walk along the gorgeous cobblestones and wooden lined paths through small neighborhoods. The Arishyama district has beautiful views of the lush mountains, and the Kabu and Kibune rivers have gorgeous riverside views and paths. There are incredible Michelin star restaurants along with family owned, authentic restaurants. This city is a perfect mix of history and modern, and very family friendly.
3. Istanbul, Turkey
When I recently went, I was so shocked at how gorgeous everything was. Crossing the Bosphorus Strait between Europe and Asia, seeing the incredible scenery was breathtaking. Istanbul is the best in the winter, with a chance of snow! The streets are lined with cobblestone and tea shops everywhere. Incredible cafes were calling my name with amazing teas, pastries, and different breakfast options. The mosques are also incredible, with intricate designs and gorgeous insides with carpet. I also loved the tram and how it was so easy to use and easy to go on.
4. Mexico City, Mexico
This is the city of color and incredible food. Every night, churro stalls open up, and people are entranced by the smell of cinnamon sugar on the streets. Walking around the city, you can visit Frida Kahlo’s house, see many historical cathedrals, and visit incredible museums. The history is so rich in Mexico city and near Mexico city, there are some Mayan Ruins that you can visit. The food is also incredible and people are very nice.
If you want somewhere beachy and relaxing. These are the places for you:
- Bali, Indonesia
Bali has incredible islands and snorkeling experiences, along with beaches of every color and size. Coming in the summer will be touristy but if you go to resorts on different parts of the island, it will be less commercialized, but even more beautiful. The rice terraces and pink beaches are incredible. I highly recommend taking a three-day boat trip to the Komodo islands where you snorkel almost 3 times a day, see Komodo dragons, lounge at pink beaches, and have amazing gourmet food. You will pass by hundreds of islands. Bali was one of my favorite places I’ve ever been. I highly recommend it.
2. Hawaii, United States of America
Again, a touristy place, but when you go on bike rides along the ocean and lounge on the beach it’ll all be worth it. There are gorgeous hills overlooking the ocean and incredible trails to bike close to the beach. There are also incredible resorts for relaxing vacations with pools and all inclusive food too! You can also visit Volcano National Park and go snorkeling to see the manta rays and incredible marine life.
3. Greece
There are incredible cities in this country with beaches, incredible food, amazing hospitality, and gorgeous resorts. Rethymno is a city with long sandy beaches and historic harbors. Kalamata is the biggest and most popular city, known for the blue waters and incredible food. Parikia is known for its unique rock formations.
If you enjoy mountains, long drives, and slow, scenic vacations, this is for you:
- Sedona, Arizona, USA
Known for its unique rock formations and mountains, Arizona is the pinnacle for slowing down, taking long drives through the red mountains, and enjoying scenic, incredible views
2. Banff/Jasper, Canada
There are turquoise lakes, incredible viewpoints, and so many scenic drives and it is accessible and family-friendly. There are snow capped peaks, ice fields, glaciers, and so much wildlife there too.
3. Patagonia, Chile/Argentina
For people who enjoy glaciers and even mountain climbing, this untamed and very untouched mountain range is for you. Patagonia is defined by dramatic, jagged Andean peaks, turquoise glacial lakes, and vast windswept steppes, ideal for slow-paced exploration. Iconic sites like Torres del Paine (Chile) and Mount Fitz Roy (Argentina) offer breathtaking, immersive hiking, trekking, and kayaking experiences amidst pristine wilderness.
