
I’ve never been more excited about going to a bagel place until I tried Popup Bagels in NYC. A small bagel shop scattered throughout Manhattan, and several other states with weakly schmears, the fluffiest warm bagels you will ever have and good vibes all around.
What makes Popup Bagels so creative and original is the fact that the bagels don’t come frosted with their iconic schmears, and instead you have to dip the bagel into your schmear of choice. This new iconic way of eating bagels became an internet star on platforms such as Instagram and Tiktok. Every weekend their line is down the block of people waiting to try their original bagels.
The schmears are also what makes Popup Bagels so popular. Schmears are ultimately what makes the bagel taste a whole lot better. They differ weekly which makes every one so special. However they always have plain cream cheese and their scallion cream cheese. For Christmas this year their special schmear was Gingerbread cream cheese. In weeks past their famous ones have been: Brown Sugar Cinnamon Butter, Cannoli cream cheese and Spicy Vodka sauce. Each sauce comes in a medium sized tub, and each one tastes amazing in its own way.
There isn’t a weekly rotation with bagels like there is with their schmears. They always have plain, everything, sesame seed, poppy seed and salt bagels. The bagels come in packs such as 3 pack, 6 and 12 pack. When you get your pack of bagels you are instantly surrounded in the smell of the bagels filled with flavor. The bagels are warm and very fluffy. They are easy to peel off in chunks to dip into the schmear of choice. Each bagel is packed with flavor and each one tastes different.
The first time I went to Popup bagels I was instantly obsessed with their originality and how they serve their bagels. The taste of both the bagel and the schmear is also what got me hooked.
