Do you like ice cream? Have you even had ice cream? I don’t think you quite have until you have tried the spectacular brand ‘Ben and Jerry’s’ ice cream. ‘Ben and Jerry’s’ ice cream was founded in 1978 by two guys, Ben and Jerry. ‘Ben and Jerry’s is an American brand that manufactures ice cream, sorbet, and frozen yogurt. There are now over five hundred locations of ‘Ben and Jerry’s’ stores all over the world, and the ice cream is sold in thousands of groceries worldwide as well.

‘Ben and Jerry’s’ have produced one hundred plus flavors of ice cream across their standard pints. They have made a point to make a variety in their flavors, including inclusive options like dairy, non-dairy (such as almond-milk), and specialty ice creams like Core (with a fudge center). Some of their most well known flavors include Cherry Garcia, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Chunky Monkey, and the Tonight Dough. They also come out with limited edition flavors inspired by seasons, holidays, and celebrities. You can find some of the Ben and Jerry’s shop locations in malls and busy city streets, but most people know the brand best from the freezer aisle at their local grocery store.

The first flavor I tried was Milk & Cookies, my personal favorite. It’s vanilla ice cream mixed with chocolate chip cookies and chocolate cookie swirl bites. There are so many cookie bits included so it feels like cookies dipped in milk in every bite. It’s sweet but not too sweet, and it’s the kind of flavor you could finish in one sitting while watching a movie without noticing. Out of everything I have tried, Milk & Cookies has remained my favorite, and my go to choice for ice cream.
The second flavor I tried was Dirt Cake. If you’ve never had the real dessert, dirt cake is basically layers of crushed Oreos that are supposed to look like “dirt”, mixed with pudding and whipped cream, with the occasional gummy worms on top. If I had to compare how the ice cream version tastes with the actual dessert, I’d say they taste pretty similar! The vanilla ice cream is smooth, and you get the crumbly Oreo type cookie pieces mixed in, with a chocolate swirl making the dessert extra chocolatey and creamy. Personally I prefer vanilla ice cream over chocolate, so the chocolate flavor was a little overpowering but still enjoyable. If you like both vanilla and chocolate ice cream this choice is for you.

After trying these flavors, I definitely understand the hype surrounding Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. There is so much variety with their flavors and each one is packed with so many mix-ins, making sure their flavors don’t all taste the same. There’s something for everyone, chocolate fans, cookie lovers, or people who want something entirely different. Ben and Jerry’s delicious variety in flavors with inclusive options definitely secure Ben and Jerry’s spot for best ice cream brand out there.
