She dribbles the ball past the defender, putting her foot down, planting it. Swinging her right foot, she hits the ball with her laces. Everyone on the field stops what they’re doing. Watching as the ball slips right past the goalie and into the net. The faces of Hackley players light up. The players on the bench stand up to go hug their team. Everyone is happy. Happy that they got to share this amazing win with the rest of the team.

“Being on Jv soccer I am able to create bonds with upperclassmen that I wouldn’t have been able to make otherwise,” Evelynn said.

Being on this team allows you to play a sport you love without feeling pressure like you would on varsity. You can have fun with the amazing friendships you make.

“As a sophomore on the team, I have gotten closer to the girls in my own grade and outside of my grade.” said Sarah Barsanti, a 15-year-old sophomore. She has been on the team for two years. Being on the team before, she knows how it works and helped the new freshman get a feel for their new school. She is a part of the team and made everyone feel like they were too.

“Team, this is one of our last games. Let’s win! Just don’t forget to have fun while you play.” said coach Canterino. Showing that winning games is an important part of Jv soccer. However, having a good time and not overworking yourself is important as well.

In the lines while the players waited their turn, they were dancing to the upbeat music. They were practicing and warming up their skills and having a great time while doing it.

Being on Jv soccer provides the players with the best of both worlds. If you are an aspiring varsity player, then you get the chance to play games and improve your skills. If you want to have fun with your friends while playing a sport you love, you can do that as well.
