Hackley Boys Lacrosse is looking togo back-to-back and make a statement this season. This group of young men, led by Mr. Arnold and Mr. Knopf have something to prove this year. They might have lost 13 seniors last year, but they still have some great returners coming back. Coming off an 8-4 statement win in the finals last year against Riverdale, Hackley is motivated and focused to keep their winning momentum. This team’s strong talent, built on a mix of returning talent, is set up for a memorable spring.
The team’s success in the 2025 NYSAIS championship demonstrated great resilience to their rival after overcoming two losses earlier in the season, and they would later defeat them in the title. The program emphasizes integrity, pride, and resilience, qualities that will be crucial as they navigate the competition this year. One word to describe this team, according to Theo Kim,

was “Grit”. Hackley kicks off their season in Florida, which is where they will be going at it in the heat every day. Under the guidance of head coach Chris Arnold, the Hornets continue to benefit from one of the best head coaches in The IVY league. This was on display last year as Coach Arnold took his squad to the Championship.
Even though they have lost 13 seniors, the team is in shape to have an even greater season than last year with all of this returning talent. Players like James Marra, Wyatt Best, Michael Price, and many more will be key players. Hackley also has some young bucks returning, including Theo Kim and Nick Dimopoulos, who were both on varsity in 8th grade last year. Nick quoted “I’m looking forward to getting to play with this great group of guys again and hope to go back-to-back”. The team will be tested early. The IVY league remains one of the most competitive leagues in New York private school sports. Including Riverdale, who will certainly have the hornets circled on their calendar. Hackley is no longer the underdog and will be the superior squad this year, so the rest of the league should be on high alert.
The quest for consecutive NYSAIS has begun.
