Issues Surrounding Lunch Need To Be Addressed

Lunch is one of the most talked about periods. However, many people have different opinions about lunch in general at Hackley. Some kids have issues with the selection of meals for the students. The dirtiness of the tables and the cleanliness of the cafeteria itself. Many people struggle with the times of lunch and the amount of time. Some people say that the repetition of food is very annoying and they feel like there should be more variety.
Andrew Carpenito said, “The food is very repetitive, a lot of chicken and rice.”
He also explains that he is getting tired of the chicken and rice. Saying that the Flik dining staff should make different types of food. They should incorporate different cultures.
However, he said, “I like that every day they have the same basics”. For example, Caesar salad, sandwich bar, and pasta. As not everyone can eat or like the food of the day.
Speaking of things that Hackley has every day, Evelynn Beaton states, “I wish they would have the Caesar wraps every day”.
In addition, Gabriella Pertiello states, “The Caesar wraps are my favorite, I wish they had them every day”.
So the Flik staff should think about including Caesar wraps in the everyday options. As the like for these Caesar wraps in expresses amongst a lot of the students.
Many students expressed their distaste and concern for the cleanliness of the cafeteria itself. Since students are responsible for cleaning up their own messes, the cafeteria isn’t always in the best shape. Students aren’t always putting their plates and cups away. Leaving them on the table for the Flik staff to clean up. Food is always left on the tables and a lot of the time, on the floor.
Andrew Carpenito also said, “I think the students don’t do a good job of cleaning and don’t care about the environment that they are in. Just make a mess.”
This messiness is not just a bad environment for the students and teachers to eat in, but for the Flik staff to clean up. The Flik staff constantly are expected to clean up. Even though it’s the students’ job. They stay late and clean up the mess of the students. It’s not fair to the students who do clean up and are forced to eat in this mess. And it surely isn’t fair for the Flik staff who have to clean it up.
The students should do a better job cleaning up the cafeteria. The Flik staff should try and include Caesar wraps to their menu every day. Lastly, they should try and have a vast variety of food. Not just chicken and rice.
