The Dyson Air Wrap has broken the hair styling market for both its sleek design and its innovative features. Its many different styling heads that can be switched depending on what style you want to accomplish have also broken the market for their multipurpose uses and simple yet effective design. However, there is a debate rooted in this product, is it worth the high margin of price, or should you instead purchase products similar to the Air Wrap, but at a quarter of the price?
Design:
When the Air Wrap is first opened, it comes in an oval shaped box, which can be used to store the Air Wrap when not using it, and comes with shelving inside to better organize the storing of the Air Wrap. Its design is relatively simple, with it being a wand-like shape with only three buttons on it that control the heat, power, and on and off switch. This definitely makes navigating the Air Wrap much easier to use especially for beginner users. It also contrasts a lot of products similar to it because of how quiet it is when turned on. It is definitely more ideal if you are living in an apartment or in tighter quarters with more people. From my experience with other products like the Revlon, my ears have actually started to hurt because of how loud the motor is, however with the Air Wrap I don’t run into this problem. Overall, I think that the simplicity of the design of the Air Wrap makes it incredibly easy to navigate as well as the quietness of the Air Wrap also definitely makes it more appealing.
Styling Tools:
The Dyson Air Wrap comes with six different styling tools, all with different purposes. It comes with two barrel curling heads, one longer and one shorter, which is for whether you want a tighter curl or have shorter or longer hair. These barrels curl your hair with air, which is something not commonly seen on the hair styler market. There also is a notch at the top of each barrel, which allows you to choose the direction of the curl. It also comes with a round brush, which can give you a smooth and voluminous blow out. Additionally, a blow dryer head is provided, which makes the Dyson Air Wrap multi functional, making you not have to also have a hair dryer as well. The air wrap also comes with two smoothing brushes, which creates an effect similar to straightening your hair with a straightening iron. However, when using these tools, I found a significant decrease in damage in my hair because of the Air Wrap only using heated air rather than just plain heat. Also when using the Air Wrap, I don’t feel like my hair is being fried, even without a heat protectant, though it is recommended and I typically do use it. The air wrap also comes with a whole other different set of attachments for curly hair, which I think also speaks for its ability to style hair of various hair types.
Price:
Overall, because of the unique design and multiple attachments, I do think that the Air Wrap is worth the whopping price of $600, because it essentially can do the same thing that five different stylers can do, but in one, which when thinking is around a price of a round brush styler, curling iron, blowdryer, and straighteners combined it makes sense. Also because of the price, my Dyson Air Wrap has had a longer lifespan than my Revlon, which I think speaks for how good the quality of this styler is. I also have found a significant decrease in price for Black Friday as it is $120 cheaper on the Dyson website.
Options Similar:
The closest product to the Dyson Air Wrap has to be the Shark Flex Styler. It has an almost identical design with similar styling tools. However, it is a fraction of the Dyson price which definitely gives it a high appeal. I personally don’t have a Shark Flex Styler, but I do think if you really do not want to spend the $$ then I think that this would be the best option as it is priced currently at $280 but with a Black Friday discount it is now priced at $250. If you want an even less pricey option I think that the Revlon one step Hair Dryer and Volumizer would be the next best option. It has two functions, as a round brush styler as well as a blow dryer. It is priced at around $40 but I have found cheaper options on amazon as well. Overall, I think that Dyson Air Wrap is worth the splurge and it is the best option on the market.
