The Hackley JV tennis team ended the 2025 season on a high note, finishing with a great victory over Dalton school. After a season full of wins and losses, the Dalton match was key in securing a great overall record in the season.
During the last week of practice, the team was scheduled to play against both Dalton and Collegiate school. Unfortunately, the weather was very bad during the week, with rain pouring on the days of the matches. The Collegiate had to be cancelled and the Dalton match was postponed to next week. Despite the team only having one match left in the season, the team was still excited and motivated to play and win against Dalton.
The team had previously beat Dalton earlier in the season, so the team wondered if Dalton would try anything new in hopes of getting revenge. And they did. Dalton chose to stack their lineup, which is a strategy where a team puts their weakest players against the opponents strongest players, in hopes of catching the opponent team off guard and winning the matches against the opponents weakest players. The Hackley team had never gone up against a team that had done this before, so they were definitely not expecting it. In the end though, Hackley defeated Dalton 4-1, securing not just a win, but a winning season overall.
The players were very happy with this win and how they finished the season. The team had a lot of fun playing this season, and are looking forward to playing again next season either on the JV or Varsity team.
