The ability to balance being a highschool student as well as being an athlete is not many that people have been able to master. One of the few people able to do this is Luke Schooley. Luke is a highschool freshman, as well as a member of the Empire swim team, located all around Westchester. With practice being 2 hours long, like has Luke is able to manage his time by not wasting any. “I spend my time before practice, which is only 2 hours, studying and doing my work, so that I don’t have to do it tired and late after a long practice.” With only a small amount of time of 2 hours between when school ends for him, and when he has to leave for practice, there is no time to waste. As soon as the day ends, Luke is right to getting his work done, and studying for all of his quizzes and tests, in order to have the ability to get a good nights sleep, and not be too tired. Luke also must use his free periods effectively. “I spend my free periods usually finishing any work that I wasn’t able to during practice, or getting any done that I was assigned today.”. This gives luke an opportunity to have a little more time to himself before practice, even if it is only a small amount. This helps make it easier to make it to practice with full energy and engagement, as well as giving him a little more time for him to study if needed.
Eamon O’shea, another freshman, has also been able to master this skill of balance. “Its always a challenge, getting all my work done, but with enough focus when I’m home, I can usually get all my work done.” Eamon uses his time well and effectively while at home after his football practice, making him able to keep up with other people doing less. This keeps his grades up, even still while having enough time for himself, or to hang out with some of his friends.
