Although Hackley Varsity Football did not end its season the way they had hoped to, they still had a pretty great and memorable season. The Hornets finished with a 5-3 record, a campaign marked by early dominance and hard fought battles on the field. The Hornets showcased explosive offense and a resilient defense to secure a winning record. Captains Jack Hiscoe, JP Ngbokoli, and Graham Klabin were leaders and big contributors to the hornets success.
Junior Quarterback Logan Wissner directed the offense and played a huge role in Hackley’s winning record. Junior WR Auggie Teacher and Senior Micah Jones were also major factors on the offensive end along with Senior captain RB JP Ngbokoli. The offensive line consisting of Jonah Hootnick, Jack Hiscoe, Michael McCool, Andre Mchanhon and Cassius Evans Thompson demonstrated lots of heart and hard work, and consistently opened up running lanes and provided reliable pass protection.
On the defensive end the hornets showed toughness and grit. In the secondary Mathew Guzman, Will Ngbokoli, Auggie Teacher, Issac Cho, and Tyler Parrot locked down wide receivers the whole year. The secondary created turnovers and made it hard for teams to sustain drives through the air.
Juniors Logan Wissner, Jonah Hootnick, and Graham Klablin were asked how the team will perform next season. They responded “We think that our big class of juniors will be able to get the team ready and excited and put the team in the best place to win”. Players also stated how one of the best memories from this season came from beating RCDS in the sting game in front of the whole school.
Next season the team will come out with lots of returners ready to get to that goal of a championship.
