F1 The Movie, released June 27 2025 and starring Brad Pitt as main character Sonny Hayes was truly a spectacle. The story begins with the former Formula One racer Sonny. His auspicious career ended when he crashed, almost taking his life. Defying life itself, he returns to racing in other forms such as Nascar. His aggressive driving technique earns him wins and cash, until one day he is offered a reusable deal. A ticket back to Formula one itself.
Sonny Agrees and packs up his van, making the trip out to England, home to his new team, Apex GP. Upon arrival he meets his new teammate, Joshua who is a young prodigy much like Sonny. His return is more than a surprise to the racing world, but left a trail of destruction for his rivals and led the team to further disarray. The story of Sonny is a slow and climactic burn leaving the audience on their seat, waiting to see if he can lead his team to victory, or if they will crumble under the pressure.

Director Joseph Kosinski along with producer and actor Lewis Hamilton strived to create an authentic rendition of F1. Even as a fictional Movie, scenes felt real due to quality filming. To many people it could be classified as the most cutting-edge and technologically advanced films. The use of extraordinary filming techniques Apple and Sony, accompanying the use of real Formula 2 and 3 cars, brought the audience into the driver’s seat. It was really a cinematic masterpiece.
The production of the movie really prided itself on being authentic. As stated before, Real cars were used, but on top of that, The filming took place on actual F1 race days and included the top drivers. Racers such as Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz, and of course Lewis Hamilton made appearances to authenticate and bring a sense of genuinity to the scenes. Even if you had never watched the sport, you could learn and understand through the movie’s approach for factual information. And as those F1 enthusiasts will find, the line between the script and the race track were so blurred, the driving scenes felt so raw and authentic you forgot you were watching a movie.
Beyond the visuals, the actors of F1: The Movie lean into the lives of racers and highlight the genuine horrors of F1. It depicts the scary crashes and the importance of calculated team strategy. The writers incorporated fragments of romance and even deeper, the hidden traumas and feelings of racing. The actors perfectly blended true athleticism and wits with heart throbbing scenes and plot.
